Lower House to begin revisiting laws today

imagesAMMAN — Jordantimes - On Sunday, the first day of Parliament’s second extraordinary session, deputies are scheduled to begin a preliminary reading of five amended and draft laws referred to them by the government.

These are an amended version of the 2012 Elections Law, the 2012 amendments to the Passports Law and the Landlords and Tenants Law, the 2012 draft Islamic sukuk law and the draft immoveable assets law.

Deputies will be confined to deliberating only one provision in the Elections Law, namely an increase in the number of seats allocated to the national list.

According to Paragraph B of Article 82 of the Constitution, in an extraordinary session, the Lower House cannot discuss any law except those specified in the Royal Decree.
